The Airbus A380 ‘Superjumbo’ – the largest passenger airliner in the world – completed 5 years of service in 2012.
Singapore Airlines was the first airline to launch A380 flights in October 2007.
The aircraft has set new benchmarks in terms of passenger capacity, amenities and comfort due to its generous space. Nine airlines across the world operate 89 of these aircraft in 2012 with 257 more aircraft currently on-order.
Some of the most striking Superjumbo-only amenities include:
- Showers in Emirates’ A380 first-class,
- Double-beds in Singapore Airline’s A380 first-class,
- Lounges/bars for business class passengers on various airlines.
