American Airlines recently took delivery of an Airbus A319, the first of its Airbus A320 series aircraft.
Each of the aircraft’s seat-back mounted in-flight entertainment displays include a filter that makes it nearly impossible for children or other passengers in the adjacent seats to watch the program a nearby passenger is viewing.
This will enable American Airlines to offer a much wider range of in-flight entertainment content on its flights. This will include many adult-oriented movies and shows such as True Blood, The Following and Dexter, according to an August 2013 Star-Telegram report quoting a senior airline official. The airline, however, has no plans to show R-rated content.
American Airlines has ordered a total of 260 Airbus A320 aircraft. AA’s A320’s will offer leather seats, WiFi Internet connectivity, seat-back mounted in-flight entertainment displays, universal power outlets and USB ports at each seat.
Main Cabin seats have 8.9-inch touchscreen IFE displays while First Class seats feature 12.1 inch displays.
