American Airlines took delivery of its first Airbus A320 series aircraft on July 23. The aircraft, an A319, was handed over by Airbus at a ceremony in Hamburg, Germany.
American Airlines has ordered a total of 260 Airbus A320 aircraft. The aircraft will feature leather seats, Wi-Fi Internet connectivity and in-seat entertainment, universal power outlets and USB ports at every seat. The aircraft also features fuel-saving wing-tip extensions or sharklets.
First Class passengers will be offered a complimentary selection of up to 200 movies, 180 TV programs, over 350 audio selections and up to 15 games through a 12.1-inch touchscreen monitor at each seat. Main Cabin customers will get 8.9-inch touchscreen monitors.
