Chinese national flag carrier Air China announced non-stop flights between Houston and Beijing in January 2013.
The service, scheduled to commence on July 11, will use Boeing’s 777-300ER aircraft. The airline will operate from George Bush Intercontinental Airport’s (IAH) Terminal D. The nonstop flight will depart from Houston at 1:40 am and arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport at 5:00 am the following day.
Air China’s 777-300ER planes have a 3 class cabin configuration with 8 seats in First Class, 42 seats in Business Class and 261 in Economy Class.
Business Class seating is in a 2-2-2 layout. Seats are a comfortable 21″ wide with a 60″ seat pitch. The seats convert to a fully lie-flat bed for comfortable sleeping.
By contrast, economy passengers will have 18.5″ wide seats in a much tighter 3-3-3 layout. Economy seats recline only 4.5″ and have a 32″ seat pitch.
Houston will be the fifth destination covered by Air China in North America. Currently Air China operates non-stop flights from New York (JFK), Los Angeles, San Francisco and Vancouver.
