Aircraft maker Airbus announced the winner of its biannual aviation and green technology idea competition Fly Your Ideas and hosted the winning team at the Paris Air Show in June.
The winning idea was Team Levar from the University of Sao Paolo, Brazil. The team proposed a smoother way to transfer luggage from an airplane truck to the aircraft cargo compartment by moving it on a cushion of air.
The team’s idea offered a smoother ride for luggage by decreasing the friction and time for transfer, allowing planes to maintain their schedules. The winning team won a prize of about $40,000.
Over 600 teams from around the world submitted their ideas in the competition, which consisted of three rounds, including a presentation and video creation phase.
