If you’re planning to fly to China and are concerned about the abysmal ratings for Chinese airports in terms of on-time flights and connection times – the situation may improve in the future. Airbus and China’s Air Traffic Management Bureau (ATMB) signed an agreement to cooperate on modernizing the country’s air traffic management system with the latest technologies.
The Memorandum of Understanding focuses on improving the capacity and efficiency of air transport in China. Modern air traffic management technologies and solutions will be implemented by Airbus ProSky, an Airbus subsidiary dedicated to air traffic management.
Four new projects are expected to start in 2013 following the agreement. These will cover air traffic flow management, airport collaborative decision making (A-CDM), Chengdu Airport capacity assessment and instrument landing system (ILS) implementation, and upgrading of Beijing Airport’s ILS systems.
