VAustralia launches flights to Australia

Great news for everyone looking for flights to Australia!  Having taken delivery of the first of three Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, Virgin Australia is finally able to begin non-stop flights between Sydney, Australia and Los Angeles.  The first passenger flight is scheduled to depart Sydney’s Kingsford Smith airport on February 27.  Plans call for daily service to be in effect by the end of March.

On April 8th, VAustralia will launch additional flights to Australia, with service from Los Angeles to Brisbane three times per week.  Flights between Melbourne and Los Angeles are scheduled to begin on September 9, 2009.

The new 360 passenger planes will offer three classes  – economy, premium economy and business – and feature self-service in-flight bars, mood lighting, state of the art entertainment and Australian themes on the wallpaper and dishes.  Business class travelers will enjoy the luxury of a fully horizontal flat bed and noise-canceling headsets.

International flights on VAustralia can be combined with Virgin Blue’s AirPass for additional savings on domestic flights within Australia.

With the increased competition for passengers on flights to Australia from the United States, round-trip airfare has become much more affordable on this route. Both Qantas and VAustralia are currently offering special sales that feature a hotel stay with round-trip airfare for travel through the end of September 2008.
