Airline Consolidators

This morning I did a random check on Airbank’s pricing for non-stop airfare to Australia to confirm that our airline consolidators tickets are indeed the lowest.  Using a sampling of dates in May (one of the months when airfare to Australia is the lowest), a departure city of Dallas (DFW airport) and an arrival city of Brisbane, Australia, I found that Airbank’s round trip airplane tickets were over $100 per person less than the big online discount airfare websites.

Seriously, the “big boys” with the flashy websites are offering this ticket for the exact same price as the major air carrier to Australia – over $1,250 round trip.  AirBank, specializing in low cost tickets from the airline consolidators, has a price for less than $1,150 per person.

If you check our pricing on this, remember to check the number of stops.  AirBank’s booking engine returned an airfare with only one stop, in LAX.  The lowest prices on competitor’s sites have two stops – with an overall  longer trip as one of the stops is in New Zealand – and these tickets are still more than AirBank’s direct flight.

Here’s another example for a cheap flight to Europe in March – departing from Chicago to Amsterdam, March 1 and returning March 12.  Our competition’s pricing starts with the “low” round trip fare of about $750 with a return flight that will take almost 23 hours!  AirBank’s airline consolidators tickets are about $665 round trip, with all taxes and fees, and the return flight will take only 13 hours.

No additional fees:

AirBank does not charge an additional fee, appearing after your flights are booked, for its tickets – the price you see on our booking engine is the price you pay.  We’re also able to provide the cost of children’s tickets (for most international flights, a child from ages 2 through 11 can fly for the cost of the taxes and fees plus a percentage of the net adult fare.  The exact percentage depends on the airline) and infant’s tickets (an airline defines an infant as a child under age 2 at the time of travel who will sit on the lap of an accompanying adult.  Some airlines provide fold-down bassinets for infants during long-haul flights and these are provided at no additional charge.   An infant’s ticket is priced as a percentage of an adult’s airline taxes on international flights).

Most airlines require an infant to travel on a paper airplane ticket, even though their children and adult tickets are in electronic format.  If you purchase an infant ticket with AirBank, we will add the additional cost of secure delivery of your paper ticket – but this is the only “additional” fee we charge.

Our cheap airplane tickets from the airline consolidators are for the same seats on the flights for which you will pay more on other sites.  Our online booking engine draws pricing and real-time ticket inventory from one of the major consolidators – a founding member of USACA, the consolidator’s association.

Each USACA member purchases an enormous number of airplane tickets each year and is able to negotiate extremely competitive pricing with the airlines.  Our well-known competitors go directly to the airlines for their pricing and often, they do not have the volume levels to match our consolidator’s low priced deals.

USACA members do not sell directly to the public – this would violate their contracts with the airlines.  AirBank, a division of a travel agency that specializes in travel to Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, is able to purchase airline consolidators tickets and pass on the cost  savings and provide you with the cheapest airfare deals.
