Hong Kong based airline Cathay Pacific expects to add a number of new destinations in Europe and North America with the introduction of the fuel-efficient Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The airline has ordered 20 A350-900s and 26 aircraft of the larger A350-1000 version.
The Airbus A350 is a wide-body aircraft under development by Airbus and is believed to be the company’s answer to rival Boeing’s 787 Dreamliner. Airbus claims 8 percent lower operating costs for the aircraft when compared to the 787 Dreamliner. Airbus projects delivery will begin in late 2014.
