In the first deal of its kind by the airline, American Airlines has signed a 12-year capacity purchase agreement with Republic Airlines under which Republic will provide large regional jet services to American. To fulfill the agreement, republic will acquire 53 Embraer E-175 jets with two-class cabins (12 First Class and 64 Economy seats) as reported by Breaking Travel News.
The Embraer aircraft will feature American’s recently introduced new livery and will be operated by Republic Airlines. The aircraft will be introduced in a phased manner with 2-3 aircraft becoming operational every month commencing from mid-2013. All 53 aircraft are scheduled to be operational by the first quarter of 2015.
