A number of European companies have registered as bidders to lease the Chicago Midway airport – the first ever privatization deal of a major US airport.
UK based airports company Manchester Airports Group, owner of London Stansted, East Midlands and Bournemouth airports, UK-based Global Infrastructure Partners, owner of Gatwick and Edinburgh airports, and a team of bidders led by Spanish construction company Ferrovial, one of the owners of London’s Heathrow Airport, are among the 16 bidders for the airport.
Chicago’s Midway Airport, the second largest airport in Chicago after O’Hare and a major hub for Southwest Airlines, is being offered on a a 40-year lease by the city.
