Finding Cheap Air to China
Trying to find cheap air to China can be a challenge depending on the time of year. As with most international airfare, when you plan to travel affects the price of your airplane tickets.
The least expensive time to fly to China is before the end of April. AirBank’s lowest priced consolidator airplane tickets from Chicago or San Francisco are on Air Canada for travel beginning before April 29:
- From Chicago to Beijing – $536 plus taxes and fees
- From San Francisco to Shanghai – $540 plus taxes and fees
Both Continental and American Airlines have cheap air to China for travel before April 29 for flights from Philadelphia to Shanghai with pricing from $466 plus taxes and fees.
To travel on United’s lowest fares, begin your trip before May 15:
- From Chicago to Beijing – $687 plus taxes and fees
- From San Francisco to Shanghai – $570 plus taxes and fees
Air Canada’s lowest fares for May travel from San Francisco to Shanghai start at $680 plus taxes and fees. Air China’s lowest fare on this route is $565 plus taxes and fees.
In the high summer season, the cost of airline tickets to China is much more, with most airfare from the United States pricing out over $1,000 round trip. In September through December 10, the cost of cheap air to China drops, but is still several hundred dollars more than the cheapest flights this Spring.
If you’re planning to travel to Shanghai for the World Expo 2010 and want to find the cheapest Asia flights, book your tickets to depart before May 15 or wait until the fall.
