Cheap Airfares to Europe

Expect abundant cheap airfares to Europe with the launch of a proposed low-cost, no-frills  airline under consideration.  Aerfare, the name for the new airline, will be modeled after Europe’s highly successful Ryanair and offer cheap airfares 30 to 50% lower than those currently available.  Unfortunately, on many flights to Europe, the taxes and fees are as much, if not more, than the net airfare – the total cost may not be as cheap as expected.

Routes under discussion are Boston to Dublin, San Francisco to London, New York to Frankfurt and Chicago to Paris. To ensure the lowest-priced cheap flights to Europe, the airline will fly to secondary airports near the main city airports.

Projections, according to Ireland’s Bloxham Stockbrokers, who prepared the comprehensive plan for Aerfare’s launch, include taking a 4% share of the European Union – US flight market within 4 years, for a passenger volume of 1.2 million travelers.  This would be great news for everyone willing to endure a bit of no-frills discomfort in exchange for cheap airfares to Europe.

With a touch of humor the airline’s cabin classes will be designated LowAerFare for economy class and AerForce1 for the premium class.  It will be interesting to learn if, as part of the cost cutting measures, bathrooms will be coin-operated -  Michael O’Leary, the highly controversial owner of Ryanair and proponent of “discretionary fees” on cheap European flights including the concept of charging for using bathrooms on flights, has been approached to invest in the new airline.
