There will be no early respite from overcrowding at Nairobi’s international airport as the under-construction Terminal 4 at the Kenyan capital’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport’s (JKIA) is not expected to be ready before 2014, according to authorities. Construction and procurement delays have repeatedly delayed the new terminal, which was originally scheduled to open in late 2013.
The airport had been originally designed in 1978 to serve 2.5 million passengers annually and faces severe congestion problems due to its current annual passenger load of over 7.5 million.
