Airlines Improve Handling Of Canceled Flights

New technology and stricter federal rules punishing airlines that leave passengers stranded at airports after flight-cancellations have led to the airlines being pro-active in handling canceled flights. This means that now airlines are more likely to cancel selected flights in advance, re-book the passengers on these flights in advance and keep passengers informed about their flights’ status through emails and phone-calls.

Airlines are also improving their capability to predict weather related flight disruptions by reducing their reliance on the National Weather Service and using the services of commercial weather data providers.
