EU Moves To End ‘One-Bag’ Rule

The European Union is trying to mandate standardized air travel rules across the continent – a move that may end the ‘one-bag’ carry-on policy of low-cost carriers such as Ryanair.

Ryanair currently allows only one item of hand luggage, weighing less than 10 kilograms, per passenger and charges steep additional fees for extra bags.

The European Commission plans to  introduce new rules later this year to safeguard air travelers’ rights. This includes uniform cabin baggage rules. The move is also being supported by airport retailers as strict cabin baggage rules cause travelers to restrict shopping at the airport.
