Good news for travelers worrying about misdirected luggage. US company Globaltrac has launched Trakdot™ Luggage, a small device that can track and transmit the position of a user’s luggage around the world. The palm-sized device, unveiled at the ongoing CES consumer electronics show in Las Vegas, can be put inside the luggage and monitors cellular networks to track its location. The device sends the location data to the user through text, email or an smartphone app.
Trakdot goes into a dormant mode when an aircraft exceeds speed of 185 km/h. The device will be available in April 2013 for a price of $49.95 with annual charges of $12.99.
