Greater interaction with passengers through mobile devices to boost revenue and enhance the in-flight experience is the topmost IT priority for airlines, according to a recent survey.
The latest SITA/Airline Business IT Trends Survey found that two-third of the surveyed airlines plan to invest heavily in using mobile technology in the next 3 years to be in constant touch with their passengers. Almost half of these airlines also planned to launch pilot tests in this direction.
“Mobile technology is topping the investment list,” Thomas Knierim, Senior Analyst, IT trends at SITA, told the APEX Editor’s Blog.
75 percent of the airlines in the survey also plan to deploy tablets in their airplane cabins to offer personalized customer service and resolve issues.
