Alaska Airlines’ fifth Disney-themed plane features characters from Cars
Alaska Airlines launched a Boeing 737-800 aircraft featuring a Disney-themed livery. It is the fifth Disney-themed Alaska Airlines airplane.
The colorful aircraft, named “Adventure of Disneyland Resort,” features images of Disney-Pixar’s animated Cars characters Mater, Lightning McQueen, Guido and Luigi.
A 34-member crew worked around the clock for 29 days to paint the aircraft. Painters airbrushed the aircraft with 70 unique colors and applied more than 10,000 square feet of vinyl graphics to create the lifelike characters, including the headlights, tire rims and eyes.
The aircraft flew four children from Alaska Airlines partner Make-a-Wish Alaska, and their families, to Disneyland Resort on its inaugural flight in early November. Alaska Airlines has supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Alaska and Washington state since 1986 and has transported over 1,050 children and their families on their wish trips.
The airline’s previous Disney-themed planes include the “Spirit of Disneyland II,” which entered service in 2009; the “Spirit of Make-A-Wish,” which was launched in 2006; and, in 2005, the “Magic of Disneyland.” The Disney planes fly throughout the airline’s network.
