Alaska Airlines will start installing new space-saving seats in Economy class featuring upgraded in-flight entertainment systems from this fall. The additions will include power/USB outlets at each seat and, possibly, Wifi content streaming to the passengers’ personal devices.
The airline plans to install the new Recaro economy class seats on all its Boeing 737-800, -900 and -900ER aircraft by the end of 2014.
Alaska Airlines introduced the new Recaro seats in its new Boeing 737-900 aircraft, inducted in November. The seats also offer 3-inch recline, six-way adjustable headrests and comfortable but slimmer seatbacks.
With the installation of these seats, Alaska Airlines will become the only US airline to offer power and USB outlets at each seat in coach class.
