American Airlines has diversified its regional fleet with the launch of flights with 76-seat Embraer-175 aircraft beginning August 1.
The Embraer E-175 jets, operated by Republic Airlines, will be branded with the new American Eagle livery. The aircraft will fly from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) to Albuquerque International Sunport (ABQ), Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) and Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT).
American Airlines will expand the Embraer-175 flights with the addition of two to three aircraft per month, with 47 E-175s expected to be in operation by the first quarter of 2015.
American’s E-175s feature a two-class configuration with 12 First Class seats and 64 main cabin (economy) seats including 20 Main Cabin Extra (MCE) seats with extra legroom and priority boarding.
