Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) will change its baggage rules for all international flight tickets issued on or after June 1.
Under the new rules, the free baggage allowance for economy class will be reduced to one bag weighing no more than 23 kg per passenger from the two complimentary bags allowed at present. The second piece of extra baggage, if any, will cost $100 extra each way, while a third piece will cost $200 extra.
Business and First Class passengers will be allowed a maximum of two and three bags weighing 32 kg each respectively.
The airline is seeking to standardize its baggage rules in accordance with the rules of its partner airlines. ANA is aiming for a single set of baggage rules irrespective of code-share arrangements, transfers, outbound travel and return flights on different airlines.
