British Airways A380 at the Frankfurt Airport
British Airways has become the fifth airline to operate Airbus A380 aircraft from Germany’s Frankfurt Airport.
The airline, which plans to introduce the aircraft on its long-haul network beginning on October 15, 2013 is operating A380 flights on the London Heathrow-Frankfurt route for a limited time.
Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines, Korean Air and Thai Airways are already using A380s on their flights from Frankfurt.
In 2005, Frankfurt was the first airport in the world to be A380 compatible. The first landing of an Airbus A380 prototype at a civilian airport was also conducted at the airport. Various ground handling and evacuation evaluation tests of the aircraft were also conducted at Frankfurt Airport.
