Lynden Pindling International Airport (formerly Nassau International Airport), the main airport of the Bahamas, has opened its new $409 million international and domestic terminal.
The airport is the main international gateway of the Bahamas as well its largest airport. The 105,000 ft² terminal was completed in about four years and the expanded airport can now handle about 5 million passengers annually.
Facilities in the new terminal include a modern baggage delivery system, energy-efficient construction that maximizes natural light and features large roof overhangs for natural shading and cooling, 24 retail outlets and 16 restaurants, bars and lounges.
The airport can now also handle Airbus A380 aircraft as well.
