Brandenburg airport (BER), Berlin’s new airport, will open with very limited operations on December 15, according to German newspaper B.Z. The airport was originally scheduled to open on October 27.
The airport will handle only about a maximum of 2,000 passengers a day when it opens in December.
Low-cost carriers including Norwegian, Easyjet and Thomas Cook Group subsidiary airline, Condor, are expected to be the first users of the airport. These will operate from the airport’s North Pier, which is intended for use by low-cost carriers.
Brandenburg airport was originally scheduled to open in November 2011. Its opening has been postponed four times so far. No date has been announced for the complete opening of the airport.
