Aircraft maker Boeing delivered the first of Delta’s Next-Generation 737-900ER aircraft on September 30, 2013.
Delta has ordered a total of 100 Next-Generation 737-900ER fuel-efficient aircraft as part of its efforts to upgrade and replace its single-aisle fleet.
The Boeing 737-900ER is the latest member of the Next-Generation 737 airplane family. Boeing claims that the aircraft has the highest capacity and lowest seat per mile cost of the single-aisle airplane family.
Delta’s new 737-900ERs will have a total of 180 seats and feature the new Boeing Sky Interior. Sky Interior includes LED lighting and curved architecture with sculpted sidewalls that create a greater sense of spaciousness in the cabin.
