Boeing has finalized the configuration of its upcoming 737 MAX 8 aircraft. With the completion of the development stage of the 737 MAX class of aircraft, the aircraft maker will now move ahead to the design phase of the aircraft.
The 737 MAX family, consisting of 737 MAX 7, 737 MAX 8 and 737 MAX 9 aircraft, will replace Boeing’s existing 737-700, 737-800 and 737-900E aircraft respectively.
The final assembly of 737 MAX 8 aircraft is expected to commence in 2015 and the first delivery is scheduled for third quarter of 2017.
About 1,495 737 MAX aircraft have been ordered so far. Southwest Airlines is the launch customer for the 737 MAX 7 and 737 MAX 8 versions and has placed a total of 180 orders.
