Boeing has brought forward the delivery of its first 737 MAX 8 aircraft to launch customer Southwest Airlines to the third quarter of 2017, one quarter earlier than the earlier schedule.
The Boeing 737 MAX family of fuel efficient medium-range single-aisle aircraft has three members – 737-7, 737-8 and the 737-9. The aircraft will be replacing Boeing’s 737-700, 737-800 and 737-900E aircraft respectively
Southwest is the launch customer for not only the Boeing 737 MAX 8 but also the Boeing 737 MAX 7 aircraft with existing orders of a total of 180 aircraft.
Boeing claims that the 737 MAX aircraft will offer 13 percent fuel-burn improvement over today’s most fuel efficient single-aisle aircraft.
Nearly 1,315 Boeing 737 MAX family aircraft have been ordered so far.
