Aircraft maker Boeing has unveiled a new design for airliners of the future. The Blended Wing Body (BWB) design is undergoing active testing at Boeing and NASA’s test facilities.
The unconventional looking blended wing design eliminates the tail rudder and adds control surfaces to the trailing edge of the aircraft. This results in an streamlined shape which leads to greater fuel efficiency.
Another advantage is reduced cabin noise as the BWB design has engines mounted high at the rear of the aircraft.
