Discover Downunder with Consolidator Airfare to Australia

The mysterious land Downunder, Australia – the top vacation dream destination for many Americans – is within reach through increased airline carriers and many alternatives for cheap flights to Australia from the United States and Canada.

For vacationers in the continental United States, non-stop flights to Australia originate in San Francisco and Los Angeles, with most of the flights departing from Los Angeles. Beginning in May 2011, Qantas will also offer non-stop flights to Sydney with a stop first in Brisbane from Dallas-Fort Worth Airport. Connections to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Dallas are usually available from other cities in the US, depending on the international airline.

Search for cheap flights to Brisbane, Sydney or Melbourne, the international arrival airports for non-stop flights from the US mainland. Non-stop flights from Honolulu arrive and depart only in Sydney.

Flight time from Los Angeles to Brisbane is approximately 14 hours; to Sydney is approximately 14½ to 15 hours; and to Melbourne is approximately 15½ hours. Departing from San Francisco adds less than one-half hour onto the Los Angeles flight times.

Pricing depends on the season

Flights to Australia are priced according to seasons and the exact dates of these seasons change every year. For the most part, the frequently advertised super deals are available from May through early June and from mid-July through mid-September.

Airfare costs for traveling from mid-February through the end of April increase significantly - about $300 per ticket - but this is a great time to travel. In Australia's late summer-early fall there are fewer tourists and the weather is pleasant in most regions.

From early June through mid-July, pricing is even higher. Although these are winter months in Australia, many vacationers, especially school groups, travel to Australia during their summer vacations. November is also a more expensive time to fly to Australia.

From mid-September through the end of October, pricing for flights to Australia is much more expensive. This is the time many group escorted tours travel to the country and their demand for flights increases the the price. Airfares in Australia's summer high-season, mid-January through the middle of February, are also much higher.

During the year-end holiday season, from early December through mid-January, airplane tickets to Australia have the highest prices. There are few if any sales or promotions during this season and the cheapest flights are available only if you purchase your tickets early.

With increased competition as more more airlines offer flights to Australia, you can frequently find a low season promotional deal for cheap flights to Australia. To find your lowest pricing, be flexible with your travel dates and try plan your departure from the US in a low fare season.

Searching just a few days before and after your preferred departure date can have a major difference in the cost of your airfare.

Use AirBank's airline consolidator search engine and search for flexible dates for your cheap flights to Australia.
