Chinese airports experience the world’s worst flight delays, according to a July 2013 report by flight statistics site FlightStats.com on the basis of flight data for June 2013.
The report found that Beijing Capital International Airport had worst on-time performance among 35 major international airports. It also said that 8 of the 10 Asian airlines with the worst on-time performance are Chinese.
Beijing Airport had an on-time departures rate of just 18.30% with 42.02% of the flights delayed by 45 minutes or more.
The Shanghai Pudong International Airport was second from the bottom on the 35-airport list with on-time flight performance of 28.72% and 34.22% of the flights suffering delays of more than 45 minutes.
The report considered a flight on-time if it arrived or departed within 15 minutes after its scheduled arrival/departure time.
