Nine airlines – Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qantas, Air France, Lufthansa, Korean Air, China Southern, Malaysia Airlines and Thai Airways – are operating the Airbus A380 in 2012.
British Airways will take delivery of its first A380 in July 2013 for use on its non-stop LAX to Heathrow flights.
Each airline has taken its own unique approach to utilize the massive space offered by the aircraft’s two decks.
Some airlines such as Emirates, Qantas and Korean Air have added onboard bars and/or lounge areas for their first and business class passengers on the aircraft’s upper deck. This level is used for business and first classes on all of the 9 airlines.
Emirates has also provided showers in its first class cabins. Air France has taken the rather unorthodox step of installing an art gallery on the upper deck.
Another interesting A380-only amenity is the provision of double-beds for first class passengers by Singapore Airlines.
