Delta plans to open a public flight museum at its Atlanta hub in 2014.
The airline has launched a $6.3 million program to renovate its historic hangars at the company’s corporate campus in Atlanta and will open the facility in 2014 as the Delta Flight Museum offering daily tours to the public.
The renovation project is scheduled to be finished before Delta’s 85th anniversary of commercial aviation service on June 17, 2014. Major improvements will include the addition of a welcome theater, installation of an elevator and construction of a new mezzanine level.
The hangars were originally built in the 1940s and were re-purposed in 1995 as the site for Delta’s existing Air Transport Heritage Museum.
