Delta and Virgin Atlantic have deepened their partnership with an expanded code-share agreement that also offers comprehensive reciprocal frequent flier miles accrual, lounge access and other benefits such as additional baggage allowance.
The agreement comes on the same day as Delta announced EU approval for its 49 percent stake purchase in Virgin Atlantic.
The two airlines entered into a comprehensive code-share agreement covering 108 routes to 66 destinations in North America and the United Kingdom.
Under the agreement, Virgin Atlantic will place its code on 91 routes operated by Delta including trans-Atlantic and domestic US routes. Delta will place its code on 17 Virgin Atlantic routes including domestic UK flights between London and Manchester, Edinburgh and Aberdeen by Virgn Atlantic’s subsidiary Little Red.
The agreement also provides for up to 125 percent tier bonus miles to Delta SkyMiles and Virgin Atlantic Flying Club loyalty programs on all Delta and Virgin Atlantic flights (in addition to the codeshare routes).
Other benefits include reciprocal Delta Sky Club and Virgin Atlantic Clubhouse lounge access as well as priority check-in, boarding, baggage handling and extra baggage allowance on all Virgin Atlantic and Delta flights worldwide.
