Low-cost airlines appear cheaper on the surface but often these airlines not only have an array of hidden costs for travelers but also charge airfares that almost match full-service carriers. Many low-cost airlines charge extra for minor services such as replacement boarding passes and even on-board restroom use. Also, travelers may not always get low airfares if they buy tickets near the departure dates.
Another factor that adds to the cost is that these airlines often operate from smaller and remote airports to keep costs low. This results in high transportation costs for travelers as well more time spent trying to reach the destination.
