An Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner has flown on a regular commercial flight between Addis Ababa and Nairobi, according to a BBC News report. This is the first commercial passenger flight of a Dreamliner after the aircraft was grounded worldwide due to battery related safety issues in January 2013.
Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) is expected to conduct test-flights of the aircraft soon.
Nearly 50 Dreamliners are part of airline fleets round the world. On Thursday, the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) gave an air-worthiness certificate to the aircraft following its approval of Boeing’s improvements to the aircraft’s battery system earlier in the week, clearing the way for Dreamliners to fly again.
