With its latest passenger traffic numbers over 57 million, Dubai International Airport has become the third busiest airport in terms of international passenger traffic – overtaking Hong Kong airport. Dubai’s airport handled 57,684,550 passengers in 2012, up 13.2 percent from 50,977,960 passengers during 2011. Recorded aircraft movements reached 344,245 in 2012, up 5.5 per cent from 326,318 movements in 2011.
The airport’s authorities have forecast passenger traffic of over 65 million for 2013. London Heathrow has the world’s highest international air traffic with annual figures for 2012 standing at over 70 million travelers.
