Dubai International Airport will reduce scheduled passenger flights for an 80-day period beginning on May 1, 2014, and move all freighter, charter and general aviation flights to Dubai World Central as it undertakes a major runway enhancement project.
The renovations include resurfacing and modifications of the northern runway and the addition of new runway lights and taxiways to the second runway.
Dubai World Central, which is scheduled to launch passenger operations on October 27, 2013 will be handling the bulk of Dubai International’s air traffic during the period.
Dubai International, the 10th busiest airport in the world based on passenger traffic, is the main airport of the Emirate of Dubai in UAE. It is also the home base of Emirates, FlyDubai and Emirates SkyCargo.
