Edinburgh Airport in Scotland announced plans to begin construction on the expansion of its main terminal building. This is part of the airport’s nearly $230 million investment plan.
The new 6,000 square meter facility will be built around a larger security area that will allow faster and more efficient movement of passengers through security. The building will also include a brand new airline business center and new retail areas.
Work on the terminal building expansion will begin in October 2013, with the new security area expected to be operational by late 2014. The new retail space will open in 2015.
The expansion of the terminal will include the space currently occupied by the airport’s bus parking area and move the terminal access closer to the new tram stop.
