Edinburgh Airport in Scotland will get connected to the city center with a tram service in May 2014.
The journey time from the airport to the York Place (city center) will be approximately 30 minutes. There will be 16 tram stops, at popular residential and commercial areas, along the over 8 mile route.
The tram stop and terminus is located close to the airport terminal (next to the taxi rank) and will be accessible through a covered walkway. Each tram can accommodate up to 250 passengers with ample room for luggage. The trams are also handicap accessible.
Test trams will begin running from the airport to Edinburgh Park Station on October 6 and testing from the airport to York Place will begin on December 9, 2013. Nearly 150 tram journeys will be operated per day, 5 days a week, during the testing period.
