Dubai-based carrier Emirates is in talks with aircraft maker Boeing for the purchase of the ultra-long range Boeing 777X aircraft that will enable the airline to operate flights with up to 20 hour duration, according to an article on Arabianbusiness.com.
The airline currently flies to 134 destinations in 77 countries and intends to double its network to nearly 270 destinations in future.
Emirates president Tim Clark has said that the airline is in talks for the possible purchase of the 777X, a long-range under-development version of the Boeing 777.
Clark said that the successful development of a long-range aircraft will enable the airline to operate non-stop routes such as Sydney-Rome in the future.
Boeing 777X is expected to be launched by the end of this decade.
