Emirates and AMR, the parent company of American Airlines, are discussing a partnership – which may involve code-sharing on flights and reciprocal frequent flier benefits.
Emirates president Tim Clark stated in a press release that he expects the partnership negotiations to reach a conclusion before the end of 2012.
Emirates currently has partnerships with Alaska Airlines and JetBlue in the United States and recently concluded an agreement with Qantas Airlines, American’s partner for flights to Australia.
On September 12, 2012, Emirates inaugurated their flights between Washington, DC and Dubai. This marks the airline’s seventh destination in the U.S.
