Emirates, the world’s largest operator of the largest passenger jetliner in operation, the Airbus A380, marked the fifth anniversary of the the A380’s entrance into its fleet.
Emirates launched the first scheduled Airbus A380 flight from Dubai to New York in August 2008.
Today, Emirates A380s fly to 21 destinations around the world including London Heathrow, Rome, Moscow, Hong Kong, Bangkok and Auckland.
Emirates fleet of 35 A380s are run by about 7,000 cabin crew and about 670 flight deck crew.
The A380 fleet has carried nearly 18 million passengers in the last five years in a total of about 20,000 trips to 37 airports with a total flight distance of about 265 million kilometers.
In January 2013, Emirates opened Concourse A at Dubai International Airport, the dedicated home of its A380 fleet.
Besides its current 35-strong fleet, the airline has an additional 55 A380s on order.
