Dubai-based Emirates is planning to introduce Airbus A380 aircraft in a two-class – economy & business – configuration. The new configuration will add economy seats in the upper-deck of the aircraft.
The existing Emirates A380s have first class and business class on the upper deck. The airline will continue to use the current three-class A380 configuration on long-haul routes. The two-class configuration will be used on shorter routes that have high seat-demand but lowerer price points.
Emirates is the biggest customer of A380s with nearly 90 planes ordered so far.
