Etihad and Air Canada signed an agreement for code-sharing, reciprocal frequent flier benefits and lounge access.
Under the agreement, the 2 airlines will have reciprocal code-sharing on Etihad flights from Toronto and London’s Heathrow Airport to its Abu Dhabi hub and select Air Canada North America flights from its Toronto hub.
The code-sharing arrangement is expected to become operational in the third quarter of 2013 and include the ability to accrue frequent flier miles on the code-share flights. The 2 airlines currently have interline agreements for passenger and cargo services.
Both Etihad and Air Canada will also offer premium lounge access to each others eligible passengers at the Toronto and Abu Dhabi airports.
