The present depressed economic conditions in Europe are well-suited for the growth of low-cost carriers, according to some airline industry experts. Major European airlines such as Air France, Iberia, SAS and Lufthansa are at present facing the need for cost-cutting and cash generation to ensure survival. Even as the legacy carriers struggle, low-cost carriers such as RyanAir and easyJet have reported positive financial results for the April-September period.
