Taiwan-based EVA Air will join the Star Alliance in June with the official joining ceremony scheduled for June 18. As a member of the Star Alliance it is expected that reciprocal frequent flier mile earning options as well as lounge access and other alliance perk options for travelers on Star Alliance airlines such as United, Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines will increase.
EVA flies to many major US destinations including Atlanta, Seattle, San Francisco, Boston, Newark, Houston, Dallas, Los Angeles and Honolulu. EVA also flies to Australia with twice-weekly flights on the Taipei-Brisbane route.
EVA is Taiwan’s second largest airline after China Airlines, which joined the SkyTeam airline alliance in 2012.
