Finland’s flag carrier, Finnair, plans to introduce seats that convert to full-flat beds in business class on all but three of its long-haul aircraft starting from January 2014. The three remaining aircraft are scheduled to be retired in 2015.
The airline has selected Contour Aerospace Vantage seats for the $29 million euro (US $40 million) retrofit project.
The seats are already in use in the airline’s four new Airbus A330s. Contour’s seats provide a 200 cm (79 inches) flat bed with shoulder room of 58 cm (23 inches). The adjustable seats also feature a reading light, adjustable head rest, mood lights and in-flight entertainment options.
