Jet Airways, the largest full-service Indian airline, and Garuda Indonesia, the national carrier of Indonesia, have entered into a code-share agreement as well as a reciprocal frequent flier mileage accrual and redemption arrangement in October 2013.
Under the code-share agreement, Jet Airways will place its marketing code on Garuda Indonesia’s flights between Singapore and Jakarta.
Garuda Indonesia will place its marketing code on Jet Airways’ flights between Singapore and the Indian cities of Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai.
The new frequent flier arrangement will enable the frequent flier program members of the two airlines to earn and redeem miles on each other’s flights, covering not only the code-share routes, but also the entire networks of the two carriers.
UAE-based Etihad, which recently bought a minority stake in Jet Airways, has a code-share arrangement with Garuda and is also reportedly eyeing a stake in it as well.
