The three Gulf-based airlines – Doha-based Qatar Airways, Dubai-based Emirates and Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways – continue to expand rapidly with a number of new destinations planned in the US. The airlines are also rapidly adding new aircraft such as Boeing’s 777 Dreamliners and Airbus’ A380s and pioneering innovative amenities such as onboard private showers on Emirates A380s.
However, the rapid growth of the three airlines has also raised many disputes and concerns by other airlines. Top concerns include that the Gulf airlines benefit from government subsidies and preferential fuel prices.
Considering the high levels of service and new airplanes offered by the Gulf-based airlines, do fliers share the same concerns? Or are travelers primarily concerned about their comfort during long-haul flights?
